Coconut oil is something completely new to me, before being sent *Vita Coco's Coconut Oil to review, I'd never used coconut oil before, so it was really exciting getting to try it out and see what it's all about. Firstly I'll start off with how amazing it smells, my two favourite scents are vanilla & coconut so the smell of coconut oil is just like heaven to me. I also love how cute the packaging is, the jars themselves are super pretty and look at the box they come in too! The great thing about coconut oil, is that it can be used in such a wide range of things, from beauty to smoothie making & baking. You can buy unbranded coconut oil, but Vita Coco's is organic, raw, and cold pressed, which means it's free of any harmful chemicals.
It's well known that coconut oil is supposedly good as a natural teeth whitener and for getting rid of toxins in your teeth and gums. All you do is pop a teaspoon of the oil into your mouth and swish it round for a good 20 mins, I did actually try this out and my mouth felt a lot cleaner afterwards, so I believe that it actually works! I think you have to stick to it and do it everyday to see results for whiter teeth though.
It can be used as a hair mask which will make your hair look really shiny and healthy, help with frizziness and will also have huge benefits when used on dry hair. I suffer with a really dry scalp as well as dry hair due to having it bleached etc and I've found that this has really helped my hair get back into a healthy condition.
It's great for dry skin and works really well as a moisturiser, I've used this straight out of the shower after shaving my legs and it's made them feel silky smooth as well as leaving me smelling delicious. It also works well as a makeup remover and will leave your face feeling really soft afterwards which is perfect.
You can also add a dollop of this to your smoothies to add something extra and it will make it taste really good - trust me! Apparently it can be substituted for cooking oils too and make for a less greasy oil with better flavour, but I'm yet to try it for that.
There are so many different uses for it, the list is endless, I could be here all day! If you're interested in finding out more, there's a lot of information on the Vita Coco website. You can find it in Boots, Tesco & Asda as well as other places :)
