With Valentines just around the corner, now is the perfect time to put together your date night makeup…
Now admittedly, I’m not going out anywhere on Valentines day as I’m single (and have a toddler…) BUT, who says I can’t give you gals a little round up of all my favourite makeup picks for date night eh? This beauty selection has you covered for glowing skin, sparkly eyes and beautiful rosy lips. So, without further ado, here are my top picks for a gorgeous date night look…
For dewy, blurred skin, I have been loving the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Primer for weeks now and would definitely say it’s the perfect choice. I can’t get enough, it makes my skin look amazing! For a full coverage base that’s long lasting to get you through the night, I love Estee Lauder Double Wear. This gives me flawless looking skin, covers all my imperfections and also keeps my oiliness under control so I don’t have to think about touching up with powder. To brighten up my eyes and completely hide my dark under eye circles, I like to use the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye in Light, which I got recently, the coverage from this is absolutely insane. You only need to use the tiniest amount to completely hide those circles and with a good setting powder it doesn’t crease either! It’s a must for creating flawless looking skin. For setting powder, I’m not too fussy over what I use as I have combination skin, but lately I’ve been using the Too Faced Primed & Poreless Powder which gives me a gorgeous finish whilst keeping my T-Zone matte so that one is definitely a winner. It has the cutest packaging too which is a bonus.
To add colour and dimension to my base, one of my favourite palettes is the Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow Palette at the moment. I love the warmth the bronzer gives my face and it’s quite good for contouring if you have tan skin too! I like to use the highlight in it on a day to day basis, but since date night is a time where you probably want to glow, I’d stay away from this one as it’s quite subtle. For the perfect date night blush, I recommend the Sleek Blush in Rose Gold. This is the drugstore dupe for the famous NARS Orgasm blush and I absolutely love it – it’s so affordable too! It’s a gorgeous shade of pink with gold glitter running through it so not only does it add a lovely flush of colour, but it gives those ol’ cheekbones a beaut glow.
Now we all know if you’re going out for the evening, you’re gonna wanna get some good highlight on that face. My top picks at the moment have to be the Too Faced Candlelight Glow and the Jouer Powder Highlight in Rose Quartz. I have loads of highlighters and I love them all equally, but for Valentines, I would 100% choose these two. I have the TF Candlelight Glow in Warm Glow and it’s so so beautiful, it compliments my skin tone perfectly. They also do this in Rosy Glow which would be more ideal for pale skin tones as it’s lighter and cooler. I chose warm glow because I tan and have yellow undertones, so this shade is perfect for me. The peachy undertones of it make it such an ideal highlight choice for valentines. Same as the Jouer Rose Quartz, it’s a gorgeous pearly pink toned highlight that is the perfect valentines choice and if you have pale skin then this will look amazing on you!
My favourite choices for the eyes have to be, no surprises, the new NARS Wanted Palette. I mean, these warm, glittery shades are just the ultra perfect date night companion. You can go light and pink with this palette, or you can go dark and smokey. It’s so versatile and pigmented! If you want to see swatches of this beauty, you can view my last post here where I did a full review. If you prefer something quick and easy when it comes to eyeshadow, I 100% recommend the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Frozen Quartz. This creamy shadow stick is my first pick when I want something to make my eyes pop without putting in a whole lot of effort. It’s the most gorgeous sparkly pink. For long, fluttery lashes (which come on, date night essential!!) I highly, highly recommend Maybelline Lash Sensational. Theeeeee best mascara ever, and it’s also drugstore so win win!
Last but not least, another date night essential for me would be a deep red or berry lip. Not the best if you’re gonna get all smoochy smoochy – but y’know… was it even date night if your date doesn’t end up covered in red lipstick? My two favourite reds have to be the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte, which is a v v deep burgundy shade if you’re into that like me. AND the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Walk of Shame for something a bit more toned down. If you prefer a matte lip, I’d definitely go for CT Walk of Shame as it has a matte finish unlike NARS Charlotte which has a satin finish and comes off a little easier – especially if you’re off out for food! Lastly, if you’re feeling like you want your lips to pop a little more, you can’t go wrong with the Jouer Lip Topper in Skinny Dip. It’s a beaut!
What are your favourite date night picks?
