As a parent, I think one of the most exciting things (if you love interiors like me!) is getting to decorate your little ones room. It takes you back to your childhood days in a way as you get to organise toys and teddies just like you did when you were younger. I love creating cosy little corners for Reuben with all of his favourite toys and books so that he can sit and play happily for hours on end. I’m not a massive fan of the room Reuben’s got at the moment, it’s not his forever room as we currently rent and I’m on a mission to eventually be able to buy my own house – however, we make it work! It wouldn’t be as bad in there if it wasn’t for the fact that it was so tiny, and if we didn’t rent and have an annoying land lady then I could actually paint it amongst many other things I would love to do. But for now, I do the best that I can with it and considering he spends the majority of his time downstairs in his big play area, it’s good enough.

Adding little details around the room is how I spruce it up and give it some character and he now has two new additions from The Essential One that add the cutest little touches to his shelves. These shelves are just spice racks that I picked up from Ikea for next to nothing and whilst I would prefer them to have a bit more space, I think they look lovely once decorated. I think soft toys are a must have when you are adding details to a nursery, not only do children love them but they look so cute too! I tend to mix these shelves up quite often as I’ll pick up new bits or Ru will have new favourite books or toys that I’ll pop up there, but the latest additions include this hand embroidered bunny cushion that is just so so gorgeous as well as the cutie Finley the Fox, both from The Essential One.

These shelves were originally going to just be for books but you know how much I like a shelfie with bits and bobs on! I love adding prints to them too, I had a print on each shelf at first but I think it works better making it a bit of a mix match. I need to get some more shelves put up in here soon because styling shelves is one of my favourite things to do… if you have any recommendations for cute shelves for a nursery then let me know as I’m on the look out!

Reuben absolutely loves his new Finley the Fox and he’s the most adorable little teddy! He’s recently developed a love for soft toys, he’s never really been that bothered about them before but now he plays with them all the time. He finds it hilarious when I make them talk to him and play games with them. He’s also started to give them kisses and cuddles which is the sweetest thing, if you follow me on social media then I’ve been posting videos of him doing it! It’s safe to say Finley has been receiving a lotttt of Ru kisses. He also loves the bunny cushion too however that’s more for decor purposes so I don’t let him really play with that. However how adorable does it look on his shelves?! It looked cute in his cot too but he’s at the terrible toddler stage where he likes to throw every single thing out of his cot onto the floor so I’m trying to put as little as possible in there at the moment. The Essential One have so many cute toys and cushions under their nursery section, I’ve now got my eyes on Bailey the Bear and Blinky the Bunny – how sweet?!

Some of the other details that I’ve added to Reuben’s room can be seen below. I love pinterest worthy decor but when it comes to child friendly decor I think bright colours are just a must. You can’t avoid them when every single toy available comes in the brightest colours known to man! My mum bought Reuben this little wooden chair with his name engraved on and it makes a gorgeous addition to this little reading corner I’ve set up. I got the fur rug from Ikea which is v soft, he likes to sit on it and play with his toys which is super cute. He doesn’t play in his room really as he has such a big play area downstairs where most of his toys are but I thought it was nice for him to have a little corner where we can read together before bedtime.

The Essential One have so many other gorgeous bits on their website if you’re looking to add some special things to your nusery, whether you’re a mama already or even a mama to be! I wish I’d got products like these for Ru’s cot when he was younger, he’d just throw them all out these days. I love the Love Makes a Family set, the bumper and coverlet look adorable together. Paired with the Cat Embroidered Cushion it all looks so sweet. I’m also a big fan of the Fox and Owl set as well as the Bunny and Bird set. How cute do they all look paired with the matching cushions and soft toys?!
